Update | Student and Family Connections

Updated 08/14/2024:

We hope this message finds you well. We want to share some important updates regarding the recent changes within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.

As part of a recent organizational update, the Office of Student and Family Connections has transitioned, and its functions are now integrated across various areas on campus. We’re excited to share that the programs and services you value will continue to thrive in their new homes, ensuring ongoing support for our students, their families, and our community.

Family Connections:
We recognize the crucial role that families play in supporting students through their college journey. For any questions, to share a story, or if you just need someone to talk to, please reach out to the Office of the Dean of Students at dos@uccs.edu or call 719-255-3091.

Update about Family Weekend 2024:
Due to limited participation over the past few years and the significant resources (budget and staffing) required to host Family Weekend, there will not be a Family Weekend this year. Please know that this was an incredibly difficult decision as we cherish the opportunity to connect with our Mountain Lion Families during Family Weekend. We’ve made this choice after careful consideration of the resources needed to create an experience that meets the high standards our families deserve. While we won’t have an official Family Weekend this year, we encourage you to visit UCCS whenever you can.

First2Go Program:
The First2Go Program, dedicated to supporting first-generation college students, is now part of the MOSAIC (Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness, and Community). You can connect with First2Go by emailing first2go@uccs.edu. For more information, please visit First2Go.

Learning Communities:
Our Learning Communities provide first-year students with the opportunity to engage with peers both in and out of the classroom who share similar academic interests. For details or inquiries about Learning Communities, please emailing Gateway Program Seminar at gps@uccs.edu.

Mentor Collective:
While the Mentor Collective Program is no longer available, students seeking peer support can now contact the UCCS Wellness Center at wellness@uccs.edu or call 719-255-4444 for assistance.

Peer Coaching:
Students are eligible for three free visits with an SOS Guide through the UCCS Wellness Center. SOS Guides are here to assist with skill development, provide resources, and support students during their transition to college. For more information, please reach out to the Wellness Center at wellness@uccs.edu or 719-255-4444.

We are committed to ensuring that you continue to receive the support and resources you need. Please don’t hesitate to contact the relevant offices with any questions or for further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
